What is Alvar Carto?

Alvar Carto is a state of the art custom poster design service. We let you to design the geographic location, texts, orientation and size. Once you are finished, we will just print and deliver.

Shipping & Returns

Questions related to tracking, delivery and pricing.

Do you provide a tracking code for the shipments?

Yes! All our products are shipped with a tracking code. The tracking code is sent once the shipment is issued with the delivery company.

My package was lost during the delivery, what should I do?

If the product was lost during delivery, we’ll send you a new one without any extra cost. Please contact help@alvarcarto.com to get the new poster shipped as soon as possible.

What is your return policy?

We want you to be 100% satisfied with your poster. If the poster doesn’t meet your expectations, please contact help@alvarcarto.com, describe your situation, and our team will work out a solution. Our Return Policy is described in detail in our Terms of Service.

How much is the shipping cost?

All our products include free worldwide shipping.

Can I track my order?

Sure! The tracking code is sent once the shipment is issued with the delivery company.

What if the poster is damaged during the delivery?

Don’t sweat, we got you covered. In the unlikely, but unfortunate event of damage or loss the products are reimbursed by Alvar Carto. Send your order details to help@alvarcarto.com and we will sort it out.

Do you deliver to my country?

We sure do! All of our prices include free worldwide shipping – including your country.

How is my poster protected during the delivery?

The poster is shipped inside a sturdy cardboard tube.

How long does it take for the poster to arrive?

There are two shipping options available – Worldwide Express Mail and Worldwide Express Mail + Priority Production.

Worldwide Express Mail
Incredibly fast express shipping by DHL and delivery to your front door. In Finland delivery to the nearest Matkahuolto drop-off location.

Average delivery times:

  • Finland: 3-6 business days
  • Europe: 3-6 business days
  • US: 4-7 business days
  • Other: 5-8 business days

Worldwide Express Mail + Priority Production
Production on the same day when ordered before 12:00 Europe/Helsinki time. Incredibly fast express shipping by DHL and delivery to your front door. In Finland delivery to the nearest Matkahuolto drop-off location. There is an additional cost of 15€ for the priority production.

  • Finland: 1-3 business days
  • Europe: 1-3 business days
  • US: 2-4 business days
  • Other: 2-5 business days

Payments

Payment methods, taxes and customs fees.

What payment methods do you accept?

For the moment we accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Are my payments secure?

Absolutely, we take pride on our customer data privacy and payment security. Alvar Carto uses Stripe to securely handle your payments. Stripe is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, which is the most stringent level of certification available. Full credit card information is only sent to Stripe servers. We only see the last 4 digits and the expiration date of your credit card.

Am I responsible to pay any customs or taxes?

For customers inside EU a 24% VAT is automatically included in the price of the prints. Otherwise, the fees and taxes depend on your country’s law and policies.

Prints

Map print quality and sizes.

What kind of printer do you use?

We use state of the art printers to offer the best map printing quality. The same printers are also used for printing large photographs with high precision.

What kind of paper do you use for the map posters?

The printing is done on a 180g/m2 high-quality paper with a matte finish. 

Where do you get the map data?

The data for our map posters is provided by the amazing Open Street Map contributors.

I can’t find my street on the map, why?

As our map data is community-generated, in some cases we do not have the latest information from all parts of the world.

Which map sizes are available?

We have plenty of options for you to choose from: 30 x 40 cm, 50 x 70 cm, 70 x 100 cm, 12 x 18 inches, 18 x 24 inches, and 24 x 36 inches. Furthermore, the map posters are available in both portrait and landscape orientations.

Mistakes, emails and confirmations.

I made a mistake when ordering my poster. Can I still change my order?

Send an email including your order ID at help@alvarcarto.com as soon as possible and we will work out a solution for you.

I didn’t receive a confirmation email / receipt. What should I do?

Please send an email with all possible details of your order to help@alvarcarto.com and we’ll get you back on track.
